History
Double Knockout Roses are a landscape shrub rose with a classic look. This winter hardy rose was bred by William Radler. The rose bush looks great anytime of the year. After a spectacular 9 month bloom, the foliage turns from a dark burgundy that lightens to a reddish orange as fall progresses.
Characteristics
Double Knockout Roses have twice the number of flower petals as the first generation knockout roses. The rose is very rich in color with a fuller bloom than most typical roses. The Double Knockout Rose is a continually blooming rose from early spring until the first hard frost. The flowers form is a pointed oval shape with approximately 18-25 petals and blooms that are 3-3.5 inches in diameter. The shrubs will grow into a height of 3-4 ft. and a width of 2-3 ft.
Uses
The Double Knockout Rose prefers full to partial sunlight and grows best in zones 5-9. The rose is highly tolerant of extreme climate conditions, providing a wide range of geographical areas to be cultivated. This tolerance also lends itself to be planted virtually anywhere on your property.
Home Uses
Double Knockout Roses look spectacular planted in groups. Plant them along a walkway or create a border fence. The rose blooms up to 9 months a year so don’t be afraid to use the shrub in highly visible areas.
